Things I wish I had in Second Life – List 1

– Digimon Holy Ring accessory.  I’ve seen two that were part of avatars or mods, but not just a simple Holy Ring bracelet or necklace or something.  I may have to buy a simple bangle kit and make one myself using the English Digicode font I’ve got.

– Ben 10 Albedo’s jacket.  There is a seller who makes a nice mesh Ben 10 jacket (as well as several others, including a Smallville inspired Green Lantern jacket I wear often), but so far I haven’t seen Albedo’s jacket.  Come to think of it…

– Ben 10 Omnitrix accessory.  I’ve seen a couple of really cheap looking accessories with the Omnitrix/Plumber’s symbol, but I can’t seem to find one that looks like any of the incarnations from the TV series.  I did have a nice one based on the original Omnitrix on my old account, but the store that it was a freebie at is no longer around in any form.

– Green Lantern ring for non-humans.  The Green Lantern Corps is pretty much a bunch of aliens, so it stands to reason that many of these aliens might not have traditional fingers on which to wear rings.  G’Nort wore one around his hand and Chaselon wore one around his tentacle arm thing, so I’d love to see something like this.

– “Hair” tufts of fur, preferably mesh or with a full-perm texture or PSD.  This has been something I’ve been unable to find other than as parts of avatars, made for avatars I don’t use or aren’t as easy to customize as I’d like.  While a lot of people that use furry avatars just use hair, I’d love something that looks like the fur on the head is styled like hair, or just a few tufts sticking out of the top as if styled.  The few I’ve found that fit avatars I use are either tintable prims (which don’t look right in some lighting) or are unshaded or otherwise undefinded.

– A tattoo layer copy of my RL tattoo.  I have the copyright circle c with my birth year on the inside of my lower left leg (yes, like an action figure).  I just don’t have the skills to make it myself at this time since it would require being made just so due to how avatars work (specific placement and possible stretching).

– A home.  This is just something I haven’t gotten around to yet.  I’m still looking at land for rent and comparing size and prim allowance to cost.  I’m not sure what sort of home I’ll have, but I’ve seen plenty I like that range from TARDIS replicas (both replicas of official incarnations from the series as well as original creations by various creative folks), Star Wars themed houses (including some VERY nice replicas of the houses from Star Wars Galaxies), and various apartment skyboxes (normal, sci-fi, steampunk, etc.).  I don’t need anything super huge, just a nice place to call my own, decorate as I see fit and maybe work on modding/customizing/fitting items I get.

– More clothes, costumes, etc.  Again, this is just something I haven’t gotten around to yet.  Most of my clothes are either costumes (superheroes, Jedi robes, etc), hunt/event items or freebies.  I’ve bought a few things, but I’d like to add a little more variety to my wardrobe.  I’d like to find more things I like that fit everything from just jeans and t-shirts to victorian steampunk suits to various Starfleet uniforms.

– A simple prim or mesh capital letter H to wear on my forehead.  I’ve watched a bit to much Red Dwarf lately.

Who is Brenning Dragonbred? Part Two: Electric Boogaloo

“Why the name Brenning Dragonbred?  Why not your real name?”

Brenning Dragonbred IS my real name!  Well, not exactly my real name, but it is in there.  It is actually an anagram of my real name, and the initials are still the same too.  Between playing games and writing my own stories, I often need to come up with cool or interesting sci-fi and fantasy names for characters.  I was toying with an anagram generator one day and on a whim decided to type in my own name.  There were some interesting results and plenty of partial names that I either have since used or have written down for future use.  But this one I claimed for my own.  I like dragons and I wanted to have a name for a “me” character without using my real name since my first name is a very, very common name.

Doesn’t it have the feel of a name from a fantasy setting?

The best part is, it sounds like it belongs to a strong character, someone who has bonded with dragons or who is a dragon hybrid or something cool like that.  But in reality, I (and by extension, any “me” character) am more like Joxer from Xena: Warrior Princess.

“So what kind of character is the fictional Brenning Dragonbred, then?”

There is not any one specific character type.  In EverQuest 2, Brenning is an Aerakyn Beastlord based out of Qeynos.  In Second Life, Brenning is (as of the time I type this) a blue alien dog thing.  In the fantasy story I’m currently working on, Brenning is a human that bonded with a dragon that found him as a sick child.  There are some similarities between the characters, but for the most part they are all very separate characters who just happen to share a name.

“How about the “real” one, then?  What kind of character is he?”

Comedy sidekick and/or eccentric relative that isn’t mentioned or acknowledged most of the time.  With kids, I’m the “fun uncle/big brother” that they do not believe is actually a grown up (I say that I collect action figures, but really I open them and display most of them.  Can you honestly say you would buy a Transformers figure and NOT open it to change it between forms?  I didn’t think so!).

“Is there a Mrs. Dragonbred?”

No, there is not.  She hasn’t arrived from the mail order bride service yet

“Do you think anybody is going to actually read this?”

I doubt it.  I’m not that interesting.  Probably just a few bored people, a few friends who will probably unfriend me shortly after reading it and people who are looking for Dragon Bread and mistype.  And my mom and grandma because they are nosy like that.

“Just out of curiosity, are you insane?”

Probably a little bit, yes.

Who is Brenning Dragonbred?

You may be asking yourself, “Who is Brenning Dragonbred?”.

The answer to that question is very, very simple:  He is the night, he is vengeance, he…

No, wait, that would be Batman.

Honestly?  I’m not sure anybody knows, not even myself.  As soon as I figure it out, I’ll be sure to let you know.

What I DO know, is:

– I’m 35 years old

– I’m a cancer survivor (diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at age 4, been in remission for over 20+ years)

– I like science fiction, fantasy, Star WarsDoctor Who, teaching my nephew about the Dark Side of the ForceGreen LanternSuper Sentai, reading, comics, Digimon Tamers, cute Asian girls, driving people crazy and last but certainly not least, gaming (everything from console games to MMORPGs to tabletop RPG games).

So what does all this tell you about me so far?  It tells you I’m pretty sort of marvelous pretty much just a big geek.

And I’m okay with that.
