Happy Birthday to ME! Also, Zombies!

Today is not only my real life birthday, but it is also the rezday of my Second Life avatar Brenning.

Today was also the release of a new skin by .:Soul:. based around zombies for the Omega Tent Event.  So as my birthday present to myself, I ran right over and grabbed the male skin and decided to try it out with a Black Lantern costume.

Spiffy, isn’t it?

We now return you to whatever you were doing before this already in progress.

Until next time, Fantasy Faire!

I haven’t posted anything here in almost a month.  Sorry about that (not that anybody actually reads this anyway).

It has been a hectic time this last month.  Fantasy Faire has come and gone, and I already miss it.  I wish I had more money to spend during the event.  I don’t really have a lot of disposable income, so I unfortunately can’t donate or splurge big when every event comes along, but at least I did manage to snag a few things (and throw a little extra as donations to a worthy cause).

Unfortunately due to my limited funds AND the fact I somehow thought it wasn’t closing until this upcoming weekend (my own fault, I know), I missed out on a number of things I had been considering picking up.  But even though I missed out, I am still quite impressed by the creators who participated for creating so many amazing items.  While I saw some items by creators I already know of and like, I was also introduced to the creations of folks who I had not seen before.

On a slightly different note, I’m also still quite pleased with the new Dominic skins from .:Soul:., particularly the fantasy tones that made their debut (but were not exclusive to) Fantasy Faire.  While there are plenty of fantasy skin tones available by many, many talented creators, the Dominic skins quickly became my favorite.  I’m the type of person that likes to have many looks, as well as preferring not to be too human if I can help it (I know, I know, I’m a geek).  All the Dominic skins are really versatile, coming with not only multiple skin bases (such as those with and without eyebrows), but also alternate levels of body definition from muscular to soft (as tattoo layers for normal avatars, as appliers for mesh avatars).  It really opens the door to making the skin fit almost any look and truly making it your own.

Now if I could just pick which tone I like best and make my “default” look.  With the variety of colors and the fact I can work with any of them, this isn’t going to be easy to choose!

Fantasy Faire Blogger Challenge – Why I Relay

So, over on the Fantasy Faire blog, they have a little thingie going on for folks to tell why they participate in the Relay for Life events.

I don’t have a cool photo like some folks do, but I figured I could still ramble on a bit (and hey, it might make sense!).

So why do I do it?  Many, many reasons, but I can at least list a few that are important (to me, anyway).

I’m a cancer survivor myself, having been diagnosed with Leukemia (specifically Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) when I was only 4 years old.  While there have been leaps in treatment over the years, I dream that there will come a time when no child ever has to go through what I and many others have gone through.

I also hope against all hope that someday, nobody will lose someone they care about to cancer.  I’ve lost friends, parents lost their children, children have lost parents, kids lost siblings…  Maybe someday we won’t have to worry about that anymore.

I do this for the people who are no longer with us.  I do this because, for some reason I’ll never know, I’m still here.  I do this because I CAN.
